Volunteers are essential to the work of Channel One Regional Food Bank. Last year, 2,350 volunteers donate a total of 2,8645 hours of service. Our volunteer work force is equal to fourteen extra full-time employees. It is because of the time and talents of our volunteers Channel One Regional Food Bank is able to help feed people in need in our community. Channel One is looking for volunteers of all types and skill levels. There are different short term opportunities available for groups, families, and individuals.
If you are looking to be a regular Channel One volunteer, we would love to hear from you. To schedule a time to meet with Barbara Schramm, Community Engagement Coordinator, please call 507-424-1705 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an appointment.
We hope you can find an opportunity that will fit your interest and Channel One's needs.
Service Enterprise Certification
Channel One Regional Food Bank is pleased to announce that we have been certified by Points of Light as a Service Enterprise! A Service Enterprise is an organization that fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills throughout their organization to successfully deliver on its social mission.
Jennifer Woodford emphasizes that as an executive, the Service Enterprise program was approachable because it provided a roadmap for improvement. “Service Enterprise was a proven way with a clear path and partners in the process,” she states. She also emphasizes that it’s different from other volunteer management training programs: “It’s not just training – it’s program transformation.”
In fiscal year 2015-2016, Channel One volunteers gave 28,645 hours of service worth $659,042. As an organization, Channel One is excited about the evolution of the volunteer program. Volunteers are the heart and soul of this organization and meeting the mission to partner with others to feed people in need would not be possible with their efforts.
